Local Walks

Bowers Mill sits in the Ryburn valley in West Yorkshire, beautiful walking country with a rich history. Five favourite routes from the mill door:

Barkisland circular

About 4 miles. Follow the Ryburn river upstream and return to the mill by a different footpath through the fields.

Scammonden Water

A 7-mile walk along the river to the reservoir, good for birdwatching, big-sky views over the water.

West Vale and Greetland

Around 5 miles of woodland and countryside on the Calderdale Way.

Stainland

A 6-mile walk past fields and woodland, taking in historic landmarks including St. Andrew's Church.

Norland Moor

Approximately 8 miles to the moor-top nature reserve, with panoramic views over the Calder valley.
